Latitude 42 Rosé: My New Couch Wine

This rosé from Rioja, Spain, is probably gonna be my new anytime sip on the couch = bliss wine.

It's the wine I could have when my stomach says, "Yeah, let's let our food digest. I'm not hungry, but I do want to sip a little wine while I watch my favorite true crime show."

First Impressions

Upon opening it and pouring it into my glass: immediately strawberries. Light body. The color is a beautiful pale pink that is just gorgeous in the glass. Like, if they made this into a dress, I'd wear it.

First sip? It's light and fluffy and airy. That's immediately what came to mind.

Sipping it going down, there was a little tingle in the chest, but nothing like I've had before when wine would immediately mess with my acid reflux. It was very light, a little spicy, but it didn't do anything that made me think, "Oh, I can't drink this. It's too high in acidity." It's absolutely not.

Tasting Notes

Color: Beautiful pale pink. Dress-worthy.

Nose: Strawberry. That's the main note I smell.

Palate: Strawberry and light. Just... easy.

The bottle says it's a multi-generation family-owned winery. It doesn't give specific tasting notes, so I'll tell you to go with your intuition and how you taste it. I'm curious to know if you would try this and what your palate says, but for mine? It's giving "a glass of wine on the couch in peace and bliss while I watch my favorite shows."

Pairing Potential

I don't plan to have this with any type of food this time around. But if I did, knowing me and how I eat 3 to 5 small meals a day, I have a taste for bacon and boiled eggs.

It's been my go-to meal since I got my surgery. It's a comfort food, but also a food that I know satisfies me. From my stomach down to the joy in my heart.

And I know this wine could be very versatile with it. Having this with bacon and eggs? It will cut through the fat and complement the smoky bacon perfectly.

The Verdict

This is my new couch wine. Light, refreshing, low-acid, versatile. Perfect alone, perfect with food if I want it.

Cheers to this amazing Rioja, Spain rosé. 🌸
